- List Open Files
- sudo lsof | grep /Volumes/<Volume Name>
- Kill the mds, mds_store processes
- sudo kill -9 <pid>
- Disable Spotlight search in Time Machine backup
- sudo mdutil -a -i off (disabled the time machine backup)
